In a tragic and bizarre incident in Baltimore, Maryland, 28-year-old Darnell Mitchell lost his life on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. The male victim was shot and killed while participating in a filmed test of a ballistic vest. The event took place at 2208 Cedley Street in the afternoon.
Despite wearing the protective vest, Mitchell was struck by a single bullet in an area above the vest. In a testament to his initial fortitude, he was able to walk to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
However, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting led to the arrest of 30-year-old Mark-Anthony Sandang Ramiro. Authorities charged Ramiro with murder and handgun violations in connection with Mitchell's death. He was subsequently held at the Baltimore City Central Booking and Intake Facility. The entire incident was captured on video, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
