Both Steven and his older brother, 25-year-old Michael Bassler, were found with gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation swiftly painted a grim picture of the events that had transpired. Authorities concluded that Michael shot and killed his younger brother, Steven, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
