On June 28, 2023, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Prince George's County Police officers responded to a reported shooting at a motel in the 5100 block of Allentown Road in Camp Springs, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered two men with gunshot wounds: 23-year-old Xavier Matthews of Temple Hills and 26-year-old Karon Moore of Washington, D.C. Matthews was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, while Moore was declared dead at the scene.
