On the evening of May 28, 2023, 18-year-old Kaden Askew from Suitland, Maryland, was fatally shot in Temple Hills. At approximately 9:55 p.m., officers from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 6100 block of Summerhill Road. Upon arrival, they found Askew outside a building, suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
