On a cold January night in 2011, a young Black/African American man named Michael DeAngelo Layne, aged 19, was walking with friends in his Temple Hills, Maryland neighborhood. Their evening of playing video games took a tragic turn when they were confronted in what police described as an attempted armed robbery on Norcross Street on January 4th.
