On the evening of September 16, 2020, a sense of unease fell over a neighborhood in Temple Hills, Maryland. Inside a home on Keating Street, 21-year-old Kendall Conrad, a Black / African American male from Washington, D.C., was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The quiet of the evening was shattered around 7:10 p.m. when patrol officers were called to the scene of the shooting.
Emergency responders rushed Kendall to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead a short time later. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
Detectives working the case stated their preliminary belief that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
In the days following the shooting, authorities reached out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect or suspects and determining a motive for the killing. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in connection with Kendall Conrad's death. As of early 2025, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the ongoing investigation. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation.
