Luis Perez, aged 34, was murdered on February 27, 1989, in Naples, Florida. Perez was at a home in a neighborhood in Naples when an argument escalated into violence. During the altercation, he was shot and attempted to flee. His assailants pursued him, driving his own vehicle, a Thunderbird, and ultimately ran him over on Palm Springs Boulevard. The brutality of the incident left the community in shock and was characteristic of the violent crime patterns in the area during that time.
