In the early moments of a Wednesday morning, the life of a young Baltimore man was tragically cut short. George Dukes Jr., a 21-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on September 6, 2023. The fatal incident unfolded around 12:04 a.m. in the 3500 block of Frisby Street in the northern part of the city. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Dukes and another man, who was 57 years old, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the chaotic
scene, but Dukes' injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead right there on Frisby Street. The older man who was also shot was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and survived. The shooting cast a somber shadow over the Waverly neighborhood where the incident took place.
In the wake of the shooting, Baltimore Police Department's homicide detectives launched an investigation into the death of George Dukes Jr. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in the case, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. To encourage potential witnesses to come forward, Metro Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $8,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and the filing of charges in connection with the murder.
