A 40-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Chad Michael Johnson, was fatally shot in Baltimore, Maryland, on the evening of December 11, 2020. Johnson, a white male, had reportedly traveled to the city with another man, an acquaintance, with the intention of purchasing drugs. The two men were in the 1800 block of Harman Avenue in the Lakeland neighborhood of South Baltimore when the deadly encounter occurred.
According to police reports, Johnson and his acquaintance were looking to buy $60
worth of cocaine. They encountered a group of younger individuals, and an argument ensued. During the dispute, one of the youths, a 13-year-old boy, allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Johnson. The acquaintance who was with Johnson was also shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. Johnson was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Baltimore police detectives launched an investigation into the homicide. Through their investigative work, they were able to identify the 13-year-old as the primary suspect in the shooting. On December 22, 2020, eleven days after the incident, the teenage suspect was arrested and officially charged with the murder of Chad Michael Johnson.
