In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Oxon Hill, Maryland, the lives of two cousins were tragically cut short. On September 10, 2023, 28-year-old Charles Oxley was fatally shot in the 5500 block of Livingston Terrace. When Prince George's County police officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 11:10 p.m., they discovered a grim scene.
Charles Oxley was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the location.
Alongside him, his 30-year-old cousin, Lamont Oxley of Washington D.C., was also found with gunshot wounds. Lamont was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. One of the men was discovered inside a vehicle, while the other was found nearby. The double homicide left a family and community in mourning for the two men who were remembered as incredible fathers.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the double fatal shooting. Detectives have been working to identify a motive and any potential suspects involved in the killings. In an effort to gather more information from the public, a reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any details that lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
As of September 2025, two years after the incident, the case remained unsolved, with the family still seeking justice for their loved ones. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for assistance, distributing flyers and going door-to-door in the apartment complex where the shooting occurred, hoping that someone will come forward with a crucial piece of information, whether it be a photo, video footage, or any other clue that could help them solve the murders. The family expressed their deep desire for peace and for those responsible to be held accountable for their actions.
