In the late afternoon of Thursday, April 4, 2024, a sense of normalcy was shattered in an unincorporated section of Hyattsville, Maryland, by an act of sudden and brutal violence. Idongesit Udosen, a 30-year-old man from the nearby community of Lanham, was diligently performing his duties for a trash removal company on the 6800 block of Greenvale Parkway. The day took a horrific turn at approximately 3:40 p.m.
when a quiet residential street became a crime scene.
As the trash truck made its rounds, a gray Kia sedan appeared, shadowing the vehicle's movements. In a chilling sequence of events captured on surveillance footage, two individuals emerged from the Kia, their intentions tragically clear. They approached Mr. Udosen and opened fire, striking him with multiple gunshots before swiftly retreating to their vehicle and fleeing the area. When police officers responded to reports of the shooting, they found Idongesit Udosen lying in the roadway.
