In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Temple Hills, Maryland, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. On May 5, 2024, 22-year-old Louis Smith Jr. of Greenbelt was discovered in the stairwell of an apartment building on Southern Avenue. He had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene when officers from the Prince George's County Police Department arrived at approximately 11:20 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
