On the night of June 13, 2024, a weekly car meetup in a shopping center parking lot in Accokeek, Maryland, turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 55-year-old Patrick Savoy. The gathering, a regular event for local car enthusiasts, was shattered by gunfire at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of Berry Road. When Prince George's County Police officers arrived at the Manokeek Village shopping center, they discovered Mr.
Savoy and another man, 48-year-old Sheldon Proctor of Waldorf, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragic event also left a third adult male wounded, though his injuries were not considered life-threatening. This individual managed to transport himself to a hospital for treatment. The car meet, which had been a long-standing tradition in the area for over a decade, was known to attract an older, more relaxed crowd who would gather to display their cars and socialize.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the double homicide. As of now, detectives are working to establish a motive for the shooting and to identify any potential suspects. In an effort to generate leads, a substantial reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that results in an arrest and indictment in connection with the case. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in the ongoing investigation.
