On the night of July 12, 2024, Shahid Omar Jr., a 24-year-old male from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was fatally shot in an act of violence that cut his life short. The tragic incident unfolded in the parking lot of Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School, where a crowd had gathered for a vigil to mourn three of Omar's friends, former high school football players who had recently died in a car crash.
