On the night of August 17, 2024, in the 1000 block of Madison Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland, 37-year-old Dominic DeAngelo Reid Jr., a Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Reid to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on August 25, 2024.
An investigation into the shooting was launched by the
Baltimore Police Department. Through their inquiries, detectives identified two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting: 25-year-old Kalim Satterfield and 36-year-old Darrell Morton. On September 17, 2024, both Satterfield and Morton were located and arrested in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Following their apprehension, they were transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
Both men were subsequently charged with first-degree murder for their alleged roles in Reid's death. Court documents indicate that witnesses claimed Satterfield was the shooter, while Morton was accused of driving Satterfield to and from the scene of the crime. In addition to the murder charge, both men face charges of firearm use in a felony-violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony-violent crime, and having a handgun on their person. Satterfield faces an additional charge for firearm possession with a felony conviction.
During court proceedings in January 2025, Darrell Morton was offered a plea deal of life in prison with all but 55 years suspended for first-degree murder, which he rejected. In March 2025, a judge granted the prosecution's motion to have Satterfield and Morton's cases tried together. A jury trial for both men was subsequently scheduled to take place in July 2025.
