On September 3, 2024, at approximately 1:02 a.m., 22-year-old Tyreke "Basey" Brown was fatally shot inside Hammerjacks, a music venue located at 1300 S. Russell Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Brown, originally from Kingston, Jamaica, was visiting family in the United States and had attended the venue to enjoy a performance by one of his favorite Jamaican artists.
