In the early afternoon of September 20, 2024, the life of 27-year-old Craig Rogers II of Bowie, Maryland, was tragically cut short. First responders were called to the 1000 block of Largo Center Drive around 1:10 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Rogers in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly determined that it was
not a random act of violence. Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department began to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter. Initially, authorities offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that could lead to an arrest and indictment in the case, as they worked to identify a suspect and a motive for the killing.
Their investigation led them to 21-year-old Malik Watson of Upper Marlboro. It was revealed that Watson and Rogers were known to each other, though the specific nature of their relationship and the motive for the shooting remained under investigation. Watson was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the death of Craig Rogers II. He faces charges of first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges, and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
