In the early morning hours of September 21, 2024, tragedy struck in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights, Maryland, when 31-year-old Duane Glenn of District Heights was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 1:05 a.m. in the 400 block of Xenia Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Glenn outside.
He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.
For several months, the case remained under investigation with detectives working to identify a suspect and determine a motive for the fatal shooting. A reward of $25,000 was offered for information that could lead to an arrest. Friends and family mourned the loss of Glenn, who was remembered as a loving and hardworking father of two, an entrepreneur who owned a mobile car detailing company, a clothing brand, and a travel business. He was also a cybersecurity student who had recently started a new job.
In late December 2024, a breakthrough in the case came when the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit announced the arrest of a suspect. Authorities identified the alleged shooter as 43-year-old Ricky Minor Jr. of Capitol Heights. The preliminary investigation revealed that Glenn and Minor Jr. were acquainted and that the shooting occurred during an argument between the two men. Minor Jr. was taken into custody and charged with first and second-degree murder, along with related charges. He is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
