On August 31, 2023, Anthony Bivins, a 32-year-old man from Milwaukee, was shot and killed near the intersection of 39th and Center streets. The Milwaukee Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 11:30 p.m. and found Bivins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after emergency responders arrived at the scene.
