In the summer of 2014, the life of a compassionate and community-minded man, Robert E. James Jr., was tragically cut short. A 30-year-old Black/African American male, James was known for his generosity and his work as a property manager in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had a reputation for giving jobs to those in need and helping neighborhood children with school supplies.
His efforts were a testament to his character and his commitment to his community.
On August 19, 2014, James was at a property near 15th and Atkinson, engaged in the task of renovating a home. It was there that his life was violently taken. He was shot and killed in a brazen act of violence. The motive for the shooting was allegedly a dispute over rent money, a conflict that escalated to a fatal conclusion. The sudden and violent nature of his death sent ripples of shock and grief through his family and the community he served.
In the wake of his death, the investigation into the murder of Robert E. James Jr. began.
