In the late afternoon of August 7, 2023, a tragedy unfolded in a west Tulsa neighborhood that would cut short the life of 30-year-old Kori Shaver, a Black female. Police responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. near West 48th Street and South 33rd West Avenue, where they discovered Shaver in the back seat of a running car with a gunshot wound to her head. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, but her injuries proved fatal.
