In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 2, 2024, the life of 53-year-old Dwyane White, a Black male, was tragically cut short in his Oklahoma City apartment. The day that should have been a celebration of his recent birthday turned into a scene of violence that ended in his death. Officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex located at 7000 W. Britton Road following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. White deceased inside one of the units, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

The initial investigation pointed to a domestic dispute that had escalated with deadly consequences. Sharing the apartment with White was Allen Dudley, who was present at the scene when law enforcement arrived. Investigators believe that an argument broke out between the two roommates, which culminated in the fatal shooting of White. According to court documents, a witness stated that Dudley had been instigating a fight by slamming doors while White was sleeping in the living room. The situation reportedly escalated to the point where Dudley shot White in the back and continued to fire as he approached him.

Allen Dudley, 31, was taken into custody at the scene and was later booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of First Degree Murder. Prior to the shooting, two 911 calls were made from the residence. The first was reportedly from Dudley, who claimed a rape had occurred. A second call 17 minutes later reported the shooting. Investigators interviewed two witnesses and, according to a search warrant, found a live round and four spent shell casings at the scene, along with the firearm believed to have been used in the incident. The victim was reportedly unarmed at the time of the altercation. The investigation into the city's 12th homicide of 2024 is ongoing.
