In the early morning hours of July 17, 2024, the life of 38-year-old Reon D. Bell, a Black/African American male from Muskogee, Oklahoma, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. in a neighborhood near the intersection of West Okmulgee Avenue and South Junction Street. Bell was discovered inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of Denver, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was urgently transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Alongside Bell in the car was an unidentified woman who also sustained injuries during the shooting. She was taken to the hospital for medical attention, and authorities later stated that her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. The violent event marked the third homicide in the city of Muskogee for the year 2024, sending ripples of concern through the community.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing an argument just before the sound of several gunshots pierced the night.
