Officers from the Muskogee Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of South York
Street in response to reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a scene where violence had erupted, resulting in injuries to two individuals. One of those injured was a 16-year-old male who was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. His injuries, fortunately, were not considered to be life-threatening.
The second victim found at the scene was Roy Thornton. He had sustained a gunshot wound that proved to be fatal. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, Thornton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
