In a tragic turn of events, 25-year-old Nicholas Rutherford lost his life to gun violence on April 26, 2015, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. His body, along with that of 19-year-old Abby Seals, was discovered in an apartment situated near a local gentleman's club. The grim discovery was made by Seals' boyfriend, who had just returned from a trip. Both Rutherford and Seals had been fatally shot.
The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the double homicide, which led them
to a primary suspect. On May 28, 2015, authorities arrested 24-year-old Eleno Maldonado Jr. in connection with the murders. Investigators gathered evidence and conducted several interviews that pointed to Maldonado's involvement in the deaths of Rutherford and Seals.
Following his arrest, Eleno Maldonado Jr. was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He was subsequently convicted of the shooting deaths of both Nicholas Rutherford and Abby Seals. Prosecutors argued that the motive behind the killings was a dispute over money or drugs, and that Seals was tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maldonado was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the double homicide.
