In a quiet Broken Arrow, Oklahoma neighborhood, the lives of a family were irrevocably shattered on July 19, 2024. Jared Shawn Haas-Upky, a 21-year-old male, was found deceased in a home at 1616 West Toledo Place. His life, which began in Tulsa on October 12, 2002, was cut tragically short in what authorities would come to describe as a murder-suicide.
The devastating event claimed two other victims: 55-year-old Ange Marie Haas Adkins-Gilbert and 76-year-old Arthur 'Wayne' Haas, Jared's
grandfather. The loss of three family members sent ripples of shock and grief through the community. Wayne Haas was a respected Vietnam War veteran, having served as a staff sergeant from 1970 to 1971.
As the Broken Arrow Police Department descended upon the scene, a grim investigation began. While the motive for the horrific act remains unknown, investigators were able to identify the shooter. However, in the wake of the tragedy, the identity of the individual responsible has not been publicly released.
With the primary suspect deceased, there have been no arrests in connection with the case.
