In a quiet home near Kenosha and 257th East Avenue in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, the lives of 18-year-old Sky Michael Prine and his mother, Sherrie L. Prine, came to a tragic end on the evening of May 6, 2020. The young man, a male, and his 50-year-old mother were discovered deceased inside their residence, both having sustained gunshot wounds.
Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 9 p.m., where they found no signs of a forced entry or any indication of a struggle, which led
them to believe the incident was a murder-suicide. While the official determination of the cause of death was pending a report from the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office, investigators with the Broken Arrow Police Department suggested that mental health issues were a significant factor in the tragic event.
In the wake of the devastating loss, the family requested privacy as they mourned. The community was left in shock by the sudden and heartbreaking nature of their deaths. Given the circumstances of a murder-suicide, there were no suspects sought by law enforcement, and no arrests were made in connection with the case. A Celebration of Life service was held to honor the memories of both Sherrie and Sky Prine.
