On the evening of July 28, 2024, in Oklahoma City, a violent altercation tragically cut short the life of 45-year-old Justin Ruth, a Caucasian male. The fatal incident occurred around 8:25 PM at 2101 S. Harvey Avenue. According to early investigations, Ruth was involved in a dispute with another man that escalated to gunfire.
Responding to reports of a shooting, Oklahoma City Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find Ruth suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was immediately transported to the OU Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Justin Ruth succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. His death was classified as the 51st homicide in Oklahoma City for the year 2024.
In the hours that followed the shooting, investigators worked to piece together the events that led to Ruth's death. Their efforts quickly led them to a suspect. Approximately 24 hours after the incident, police arrested 44-year-old Carl Dustyn Malone in connection with the homicide. Malone was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of First Degree Murder. He was denied bond.
