On the night of January 31, 2023, the life of 43-year-old Sean Devon Peoples, a resident of Kent, Washington, was tragically cut short. Inside a room at the Kent Valley Motel on Central Avenue North, a violent encounter unfolded that would leave two people dead. Multiple 911 calls flooded the Kent Police dispatch at approximately 10:23 p.m., with callers reporting the chilling sound of gunshots emanating from one of the motel rooms.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene.
Sean Peoples and a 32-year-old woman from Alaska named Sharmayne Jackson were found deceased inside the room. The King County Medical Examiner's Office would later confirm that both had died from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators immediately began working the case, stating early on that the double homicide did not appear to be a random act of violence, suggesting the victims may have been targeted.
