In the early morning hours of September 19, 2021, a 23-year-old Black man named Devon Hill was with two other men at a Circle K gas station in Kent, Washington. They had stopped to buy rolling papers for marijuana joints when their brief errand took a tragic and violent turn. At approximately 1:18 a.m., a man, later identified as Joseph "Dirty" Bert Dixon, approached their Cadillac SUV, opened the rear passenger door, and began shooting without any apparent warning or provocation.
