In the early morning hours of February 24, 2023, a sense of normalcy filled the Bremerton, Washington, home of 45-year-old Carolynn Williams, a Caucasian female. She was relaxing on the couch with her husband, Charles, while their children slept peacefully in their beds. The quiet of the night was shattered at approximately 1:20 a.m. when a barrage of gunfire erupted from outside their residence in the 4100 block of Chico Way.
In an instant, the sanctuary of their home became a scene of terror and tragedy.
As bullets tore through the walls of their house, Charles instinctively tried to get his wife to safety, but it was too late. Carolynn had been struck by the gunfire. A frantic 911 call was made from the home, pleading for help as Charles discovered his wife had been shot in the head. Emergency responders arrived to a chaotic scene and provided aid to Williams before she was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Carolynn Williams succumbed to her injuries.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office launched a homicide investigation, determining that the shooting was a targeted attack on the home, though not necessarily on Williams herself. Investigators believe two suspects approached the house on foot after parking a black, four-door sedan nearby. Surveillance footage captured the two individuals running back to their vehicle and fleeing the area after the shooting.
As of late 2024, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Carolynn Williams. Detectives continue to seek the public's help in identifying the two suspects responsible for her death. A cash reward has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest in the case that has left a family shattered and a community searching for answers.
