A couple is found shot to death On a seemingly ordinary Saturday, May 13, 2000, in Bremerton, Washington, the lives of 32-year-old Caucasian female Karin Lane and her boyfriend, Clint Conn, were tragically cut short. The couple was last seen by a neighbor that morning; Conn was working on a car in the yard of their North Charleston Avenue home while Lane was arranging flowers on the porch.
Later that day, growing concern from friends and neighbors would signal that something was terribly wrong.
Friends became worried after being unable to reach either Karin or Clint. A friend who had spoken with Karin on the phone around 11:30 that morning noted she sounded agitated. This unease was compounded by a neighbor's observation that the couple's beloved pit bull had been left outside all day, which was highly unusual for them. By the evening, the bathroom light remained on, another out-of-character detail that raised alarm among those who knew their habits.
After two days with no contact, a friend went to their home on Monday, May 15th, and, after receiving no answer, made the decision to force entry into the residence. Inside, a grim discovery awaited. Clint Conn was found deceased, having been shot once in the head. In another room, the body of Karin Lane was also found; she too had been fatally shot.
The subsequent investigation into the double homicide revealed a home that was known for late-night parties, with people frequently coming and going. Law enforcement had been called to the residence on at least two prior occasions. It was also reported that Clint Conn had a criminal history and was believed to be involved with methamphetamine and other drugs. Despite these leads and the ongoing efforts of Bremerton police detectives, the motive for the murders remains unknown. No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the deaths of Karin Lane and Clint Conn, leaving their case unsolved.
