In the early hours of a Sunday morning, on August 20, 2023, the life of a 32-year-old Black or African American man, Trevis Bellard, was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire. The incident unfolded at the Rainier Hookah Lounge located in the 2200 block of Rainier Avenue South in Seattle, Washington, just before 4:30 a.m. Bellard was one of three people killed in the mass shooting, which also left six others injured.
