In the early morning hours of August 20, 2023, a scene of chaos and violence erupted at a hookah lounge in South Seattle, forever altering the lives of many. Among the victims was Nadia Kassa, a 30-year-old woman, who was enjoying a night out. The daughter of parents who had moved from the Tigray region of Ethiopia, Nadia was described by her family as a caring and generous person who was the glue that held her six sisters together.
