On a tragic evening in Seattle, Washington, 28-year-old Lisa Ann Jackson's life was cut short on June 6, 2017. A social gathering at her apartment in the White Center neighborhood took a fatal turn following a heated dispute with her former roommate. Lisa, who was of Native American descent, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The night of the incident, Jackson was hosting a party at her apartment on 14th Avenue Southwest when her 28-year-old
ex-roommate arrived to collect some personal belongings. An argument erupted between the two women, escalating to the point where a handgun, reportedly belonging to Jackson, came into the possession of the ex-roommate. According to the ex-roommate's account to law enforcement, she was walking to her car to secure the weapon in the glove box when Jackson charged at her. The ex-roommate claimed that as she tried to shield her face, she heard a loud bang.
Immediately following the gunshot, other party guests intervened, detaining the ex-roommate until sheriff's deputies arrived. The woman admitted to shooting Jackson and was subsequently arrested for investigation of second-degree murder, with bail set at $1 million. Investigators later determined that the firearm used in the shooting had been reported stolen.
Despite the arrest, the legal aftermath of Lisa Jackson's death remains unclear. As of June 2017, the ex-roommate had not been formally charged.
