On January 6, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in the Maplewood neighborhood of Vancouver, Washington, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Sinem James. The Clark County Medical Examiner's Office determined that James died from a penetrating gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
