In the early morning hours of January 6, 2024, a tragic event unfolded in a Vancouver, Washington neighborhood that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Black / African American male, Sineh J. Finister. The incident, which was reported around 3:20 a.m., drew a swift response from the Vancouver Police Department after receiving calls about gunfire.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Finister lying unresponsive on the ground.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts administered by the police, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office later confirmed his identity.
The Vancouver Police Department's Major Crimes Unit has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation into Finister's death. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been announced. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and a possible motive remain under investigation. Law enforcement has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the case.
