Guerlin P. Caetano, a 20-year-old man, was shot in Vancouver, Washington, in the early morning hours of April 18, 2026. The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. in a parking lot in the 11800 block of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard, a commercial area in east Vancouver. Police were called there after a report that someone had been shot, and when officers arrived, they found Caetano suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were later determined to be unsurvivable.
Although the shooting occurred on April 18, the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Caetano died on April 19, 2026, in Vancouver. He was identified as Guerlin P. Caetano of Tacoma, Washington. The medical examiner determined that his cause of death was complications of a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The injury was described as having occurred when he was shot by another person in a parking lot near a vehicle.
The suspect fled before officers could take anyone into custody. Vancouver police canvassed the area and conducted a K-9 track after the shooting, but the suspect was not located. Early reports described the suspect as male, but authorities did not publicly release a name, detailed description, motive, or confirmed relationship between the suspect and Caetano.
As of the available public reports, no arrests had been announced in Caetano’s killing. The Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crimes Team continued investigating the homicide and asked anyone with information, including people who may have video from the area around the time of the shooting, to contact the department’s tip line. The case remained active, with investigators still seeking the person responsible for the fatal shooting.
