On an otherwise ordinary summer evening in Tacoma, Washington, a disagreement escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 33-year-old Sean Miller, a White male. The events of July 15, 2024, began with an interaction between Miller and another man that led to a dispute. Following the initial confrontation, Miller left the scene, but the other individual pursued him in a vehicle.
The chase concluded near East 28th Street and East R Street, in the vicinity of the Emerald Queen
Casino and Interstate 5. There, the disagreement turned violent, and the pursuing man shot Miller multiple times. Despite attempts to save his life, Miller succumbed to his injuries at the scene, marking Tacoma's 13th homicide of the year.
In the wake of the shooting, police quickly identified the man who had followed and shot Miller. The alleged shooter retained a lawyer and provided a statement to the authorities, and is said to be cooperating with the ongoing investigation. As of yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office is expected to review the case.
Sean Miller's family remembers him as a great person, a beloved brother, son, and uncle. A plumber by trade, he had recently been named employee of the month at his job. His brother described him as a unique, one-of-a-kind individual who touched many lives. Miller had a passion for classic cars, with his 1966 Chevy Nova being his particular pride and joy. In the midst of their grief, his family has created a makeshift memorial at the scene of the shooting, hoping to bring awareness to his death and find closure.
