On the evening of February 22, 2025, Messiah Washington, an 18-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Tacoma, Washington. A student at Willie Stewart Academy, he lived with his father, Jacque Washington, in an apartment building on South L Street, where he was also his father's caretaker.
