On October 13, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., 53-year-old Oton Garcia Ruiz was shot and killed while sitting in his car at Shree's Truck Stop gas station, located in the 7800 block of Detroit Avenue Southwest in Seattle's Highland Park neighborhood. Ruiz was waiting to fill up his gas tank when the shooting occurred.
