On June 18, 2023, 8-year-old Nolan Mason Combs was found with a gunshot wound at his home on Fieldstone Drive in Dayton, Ohio. He was transported to Dayton Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His mother, 34-year-old Melissa Hensley, was also found deceased at the scene.
Preliminary autopsy reports from the Montgomery County Coroner's Office indicated that Hensley shot her son before turning the gun on herself.
Dayton police investigated the incident as a murder-suicide.
Nolan was born on November 23, 2014, in Dayton. He was remembered as a bright and compassionate young boy who touched the lives of everyone he met. A funeral service was held on June 24, 2023, at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory.
