On November 23, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Dayton police responded to reports of a shooting in the 4600 block of Forsythe Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered that a vehicle had crashed into a house in the 1900 block of Arlene Avenue. Inside the vehicle, 34-year-old D'Juan Antonio Hall Sr. was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Investigations revealed that prior to the shooting, Hall had attended a party on Forsythe Avenue, where he became involved in an argument with 42-year-old Angelo Jamille Champion. The altercation continued outside, leading Hall to enter the back seat of a friend's Chevrolet Traverse. Champion allegedly approached the vehicle, aimed a firearm at the driver's side rear passenger door, and fired a single shot, striking Hall. In an attempt to flee, the driver accelerated away from the scene but collided with a Hyundai, causing the Traverse to crash into a nearby house on Arlene Avenue. The female driver sustained minor injuries, while the Hyundai's driver was unharmed.
Subsequent to the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Champion, charging him with murder, two counts of felonious assault, and possession of a firearm despite a prior felony conviction prohibiting such ownership. As of December 3, 2024, Champion remained at large, with law enforcement actively seeking his apprehension.
Funeral services for Hall were held on December 9, 2024, at the House of Wheat Funeral Home in Dayton, Ohio. He is remembered by family and friends for his vibrant personality and love for karaoke, often performing songs by Deborah Cox. His untimely death has left the community in mourning, as they seek justice for the tragic loss of a cherished individual.
