On February 22, 2023, at approximately midnight, Dayton police responded to a reported shooting in the 1900 block of Shaftesbury Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Lafeon Quintez Hamilton with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Terrill Jerome Nelson, fled the scene in a stolen 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. Utilizing recently installed Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), law enforcement tracked Nelson's vehicle. Whe ...
