Michael Eugene Blessing Minter, also known as "King Sav," was tragically killed on August 8, 2023, in Springfield, Ohio. The incident occurred just before midnight when police responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the 600 block of South York Street. Upon arrival, officers found Minter, age 29, in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Minter was immediately transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
This fatal shooting was the second in Springfield within a 72-hour period, raising concerns in the community. Initially, no suspects were identified or arrested in connection with Minter's death.
However, on December 4, 2023, nearly four months after the incident, a significant development occurred in the case. Jonathan W. Hopkins, a 25-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to Minter's death. Hopkins, who was described as "armed and dangerous," was also a suspect in an armed robbery case.
The case against Hopkins proceeded to trial, and on September 26, 2024, he was found guilty of murder. The court sentenced Hopkins to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of Michael Minter. This verdict brought a measure of closure to the case, which had begun with the tragic events outside Minter's home on York Street in August 2023.
