On August 22, 2023, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Trotwood police responded to a two-vehicle crash near Olive Road and Hoover Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that both drivers, 38-year-old Antonio Heard and 44-year-old Crystal Lugo, had sustained gunshot wounds in addition to injuries from the collision. Both individuals were transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where Lugo was pronounced dead later that afternoon, and Heard succumbed to his injuries on August 24.
