On February 20, 2024, Edwin Jaquan Smith, a 23-year-old resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was fatally shot. The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of North Mitthoefer Road on the city's northeast side. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a report of a person shot and found Smith outside with gunshot wounds near the intersection of North Mitthoefer Road and Catalina Drive.
