On October 29, 2023, 17-year-old Anthony Elliott from Cleveland, Ohio, was fatally shot during an altercation at Versified Expressions Poetry Cafe on Romig Road in Akron. The incident began as a verbal dispute inside the venue during a rap performance, which escalated into a physical confrontation in the parking lot, where multiple shots were fired.
