On December 31, 2023, 41-year-old Sandros "Pac" Boddie Jr. of Lima, Ohio, was fatally shot during an altercation at a residence on North Glenwood Avenue. Deputies from the Allen County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a fight with gunfire and discovered Boddie deceased inside the garage, apparently from a single gunshot wound.
The incident occurred after a day of drinking and playing dominoes between Boddie and his friend, 46-year-old Djuan McLaurin Sr. An argument over the game escalated, leading McLaurin to retrieve a handgun, which he placed on a table. Boddie hid the weapon, prompting McLaurin to obtain a second firearm from inside the house. As Boddie attempted to leave, reportedly saying, "If you're going to shoot me, shoot me. If not, then I'm going home," McLaurin shot him in the head. McLaurin then allegedly attempted to shoot his own son, Djuan Wade-McLaurin, but the gun malfunctioned.
McLaurin was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault. In March 2024, an Allen County jury found him guilty on all charges. He was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison. The conviction was based on testimonies, including that of his son, who witnessed the shooting, and forensic evidence presented during the trial.
Boddie was remembered as an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing dominos and cards, and cherished time with his family, especially at cookouts where he was known as the best "chef" in the family. He is survived by his wife, Ijeanna "IG" Boddie, his children, and a large extended family.
