On February 23, 2024, 47-year-old Patrick Boergert of Barberton, Ohio, was fatally shot in Akron. The incident occurred on the 1300 block of South Arlington Street. After sustaining a gunshot wound to the torso, Boergert was transported to the 800 block of East Wilbeth Road, where Akron police discovered him. Officers administered first aid before EMS transported him to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he later died.
