On May 8, 2024, Cleveland firefighters responded to a blaze in the 1700 block of East 88th Place. While extinguishing the fire, they discovered a woman upstairs who had died from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was later identified as 44-year-old April Cost.

Following an investigation, authorities identified 37-year-old Michael H. Hurley as a suspect in the case. On October 4, 2024, members of the U.S. Marshals Service's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Hurley ...
